The supreme court has been invoked to stay a decision by President Adama Barrow sacking Ya Kumba Jaiteh as a nominated member of the national assembly, The Fatu Network learnt Wednesday.

Ya Kumba Jaiteh was brutally fired last week as a nominated member of the national assembly by President Barrow.
The move has divided Gambian opinion with the lawmaker vowing to continue in her role.
On Monday, President Barrow doubled down on his decision by naming Ms Jaiteh’s replacement.
A supreme court source told The Fatu Network on Wednesday Ms Jaiteh has filed a lawsuit in which she praying for an injunction to stay the president’s decision until the court makes a final ruling on the matter.
