The Independent Electoral Commission has declined to speak to the media to clear up reasons that sparked the postponement of voter registration.

The IEC was billed to begin the exercise of registering Gambian voters on 14 January; however the commission on Monday announced a postponement of the exercise.

The IEC said ‘logistical’ challenges beyond its control caused the postponement.

The Fatu Network attempted to speak to the chairman of the commission Alieu Momar Njai on Tuesday but IEC officials said they have decided not to speak any further than a terse press release shared with the media.
