The Gambia Football Federation is under fire after it announced Monday that ‘technical’ reasons have prompted a delay in their arrival to The Gambia ahead of a crucial match against Angola in the AFCON qualifiers.
“The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) regrets to inform the general public that, due to technical reasons, the chaterred [sic] flight that supposed to transport the Scorpions players to Banjul couldn’t leave Brussels as scheduled.
“However, the GFF in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth & Sports, is working tirelessly with the charter operator to ensure that the flight arrive with the players tomorrow, Tuesday, 23rd March, 2021 at 20:00GMT,” GFF said in a statement.
But disappointed Gambians blasted the federation as soon as it issued its statement on its official Facebook page.
Masanneh Bilal Fatty simply wrote: “Useless GFF.”
Alfusainey Ceesay: “GFF is a disgrace association, when other ountries are in camp for 2 or 3 days now and look at Gambia what do we do still struggling for our players to land is a big shame really”
Alagie Phodali Jarju said: “You guys managing our football are very reckless. May God help us!”
