The director general of Gambia Prison Service Ansumana Manneh has been sent on administrative leave over jail breaks that have rocked Mile 2.
A number of jail breaks occurred at the maximum security detention facility over the past months with the latest being the escape of eight people. Alleged killer Buba Drammeh also escaped from Mile 2 in December last year.

The Personnel Management Office wrote to Mr Manneh on October 18 informing him of a decision to proceed on a two-month administrative leave. He was asked to hand over to his deputy Momodou Jarju.
Mr Manneh could not be reached for comment but a prison official said he was not at work on Wednesday.
