Oreme Joiner is the new vice chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, The Fatu Network understands.
The Office of the President last week wrote to the IEC chairman informing him of the tapping of the former Trust Bank official. An IEC official confirmed Joiner’s appointment.
His appointment to the nation’s electoral commission comes amid claims he is a member of President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party.
But the chairman of the NPP Banjul executive committee Baboucarr Gaye told The Fatu Network Joiner is no longer a member of his committee.
IEC has had its vice chairman role vacant since the departure of Malleh Sallah last year.
