NAWEC has issued a statement given reason for the erratic power supply in the Greater Banjul Area.

In a statement, NAWEC said: “NAWEC wishes to inform the general public that some engines in Brikama and Kotu Power Stations have been shut down due to some mechanical faults, while KARPOWER was already shut down for some routine maintenance.

“These are the reason for the current erratic power supply in the GBA which is due to mainly inadequate capacity.

“The engineers have already started restoring some of the feeders that were shut down and hopefully they will complete as soon as possible.

“We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.”
