Minister of Health Dr Ahmadou Lamin Samateh has said there are politicians who are instigating health workers into industrial action.
Dr Samateh is fighting to save the country’s healthcare system amid nurses rolling out a hude strike over unpaid allowances and poor working condition.
Dr Samateh held a press conference on Tuesday where he made the charge the nurses were in fact being instigated by politicians.
He said: “Unfortunately we have gotten information that politics is gradually infiltrating into our health services. Some politicians are instigating some people into going on strike, in trying to make the health services a political football field.”
His comments however could not avert the industrial action by the nurses which began on Wednesday.
