Foreign minister Dr Mamadou Tangara on Tuesday 24 September represented the African continent at the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States meeting with the European Union on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The high level meeting will enable ACP and EU issue a joint declaration in support of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the foreign affairs ministry said in a statement.

ACP and EU countries combined account for more than half of the UN membership and unite over 1.5 billion people, so the joint declaration carries significant weight in terms of demonstrating a commitment of Agenda 2030, the statement added.
