Barrow taps Dibba and Sey for OIC top roles

President Adama Barrow has appointed Yankuba Dibba as the chief executive officer of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation national secretariat.

Dibba was appointed to the role ‘following an extraordinary meeting of the board of the OIC secretariat Gambia on 19 September 2019.’

A statement by the secretariat on Tuesday September 24 said “Mr. Yankuba Dibba has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) OIC Secretariat and Mr Essa Bokarr Sey  Deputy Chief Executive (DCEO).”

“Both appointments were offered by the above Board Chaired by HE the President of The Republic of The Gambia,” the statement said.

The duo’s appointment comes nearly a month after the shock departure of Lamin Sanneh and Nyang Njie.

The two men resigned as a result of alleged ‘executive’ meddling.

The organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretariat the Gambia is the body tasked to provide the coordination role in preparation of the hosting of the 2022 OIC Heads of State summit scheduled to be held in The Gambia in 2022.

The OIC is the second largest inter – governmental organization after the United Nations, with a membership of 57 states spread over four continents.
