Four years after his fatal shooting, Foni calls for justice in Haruna Jatta’s slaying

The Foni Youth Development Association, FYDA, has again called for justice in the death of Kanilai native Haruna Jatta.

Mr Jatta was gunned down by ECOMIG soldiers in 2017 as natives of Kanilai took to the streets to call for an end to the presence of ECOMIG forces in Kanilai.

At the fourth annual charity for Mr Jatta on Friday, Rohey Jatta, the widow of late Haruna Jatta said her heart is still full of grief.

“I cannot say much, because my heart is fill with grieve and sadness. On a daily bases I thing of the demise of my late husband and all the suffering I am going through.’’ Rohey told reporters.

Bakery Saibo Sanneh, former chairman of West Coast Region and Almameh Gibba secretary general of Foni Youth Development Association both also challenged the government to enrsure justice in the alleged murder of Harouna Jatta.

“We want to make sure the government take a stand to all the injustice, hardships, and tyranny Foni is faced with.  Adding, we are asking the government of Adama Barrow to make show the death of Harouna Jatta is investigated.’’ Almameh Gibba said.

“I want to inform the government t of Barrow that, two wrongs cannot make a right. The right of Harouna Jetta’s family must be protected, justice has to be done.’’ Saibo Sanneh on his part said.

Lamin Manga, ward chairman of Foni Kansala highlighting the challenges of Foni, says the government of Adama Barrow has put much interest in the death of Solo Sandeng, giving deaf ears to that of late Haruna Jatta.

“Who is Solo Sandeng and who is Harouna Jatta, they all died on a similar course,” Manga said.
