Thousands of supporters of opposition APRC took to the streets on Thursday to call on Mr Barrow’s government and international bodies of UN, AU and Ecowas to respect a deal that could see the return to the country of former president Yahya Jammeh. President Barrow was busy overseeing a meeting of members of his cabinet at the time of the protest.

State House in a statement late Thursday said the second cabinet session deliberated several issues including the revitalization of cooperatives, regulation of veterinary services, establishment of national early warning system, among other matters.

Thursday’s meeting comes as President Barrow faces growing opposition to his rule.

Mr Barrow had agreed to preside over a three-year transitional government which will come to an end on Sunday. His about-face saying he will not leave office by this time has sparked a huge row. Operation Three Years Jotna will take to the streets on Sunday to demand that he respects his pledge.
