Wednesday public holiday: Dr Ismaila Ceesay says he is shocked at president’s decision

Dr Ismaila Ceesay has expressed shock at President Adama Barrow’s decision to declare Wednesday a public holiday.

The president declared Wednesday a public holiday amid the Muslim Eidul Fitr festival to be marked on Thursday.

Dr Ceesay said in a tweet on Tuesday: “Gobsmacked that OP declared Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th May as Public Holidays in observance of the Feast of Eid-ul-Fitr before any confirmation of the sighting of the moon.

“Now that Thursday is confirmed, Friday will also be a public holiday. Total waste of public funds.”
