US-based Gambian Sainey Darboe has chipped into the raging sex workers controversy by saying he ‘totally’ stands with Imam Baba Leigh.

“I totally stand with Imam Baba Leigh in his call for providing relief to sex workers,” Darboe writing on Friday said.

The GunjurOnline editor-in-chief added: “Successive governments have failed our people. If you can’t provide jobs for young people and support their dreams, you shouldn’t sit in judgment.

“After all, these are our sisters who have been failed by our country. While am not condoning prostitution, I don’t think anyone voluntarily turns to offering sex for a living if they could help it.

“Instead of assigning blame, we should come up with solutions to replace their chosen profession with something better. No one should be judged for their sexual orientation or choice of profession.”
