A man has died after his car slammed into an ‘electric’ pole as he drove on the busy Kairaba Avenue. The incident happened early Tuesday.
Police said in a statement: “On Tuesday 25th February 2020 at 0600hrs, a Mercedes Benz C Class Motor vehicle with registration number Bjl 1141 Q, driven by Pa Modou Njie of Latrikunda Germany, crashed into an electric pole while speeding along the Kairaba Avenue Road. Pa Modou lost control of the vehicle when he tried to turn at the Junction opposite LG Samsung.
“A 40 year old female pedestrian was hit and sustained a broken leg injury. She has been admitted and currently receiving treatment at the Serrekunda General Hospital.
The driver Pa Modou Njie was equally taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
“Preliminary investigations into the accident has led to the recovery of 5 bags of suspected cannabis from the vehicle. This exhibit has been handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigations.
“Meanwhile, Police accident investigations continue into the matter.”
