Gambia Action Party has blasted reports its leader Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly has joined President Adama Barrow’s NPP.
Reports abouded late on Saturday the GAP chief was in Niamina to join National People’s Party.
But GAP in a statement signed by administrative secretary Muhammed Kandoro Yaffa blasted: “The Administration of the Gambia Action Party wish to clarify to the general public that it’s Leader and Secretary General, Hon. Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly didn’t join NPP as claimed in the social media platforms and such fabrication is condemned by GAP to the maximum extent possible. We want to recall the minds of Gambians both at home and abroad that Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly is the founder of GAP and feel unique in his views that will boost the development programs of the Gambia.
“The administration of GAP is aware that some of the executive members are currently in Niamina West and the delegation is headed by the party leader. The sole purpose of this visit at this crucial time in the political landscape is to ensure that our support base is strengthened in Niamina.
“We have acknowledged that the GAP Leader has been welcomed by the NPP campaigners on his way and thus sat in the gathering only because of his political maturity that shows the importance of political tolerance and he could have sat in any other party’s gathering. To capped this regard, Batchilly believes that the NPP’s candidate is the better option for the people of Niamina as he’s development passion and hungry. He talked to GAP members in Niamina West to support and vote for development by voting for the NPP’s Candidate. GAP as a party believes in freedom of choice to make that does not spare Hon. Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly and anything cooked outside the box is a mere fabrication and blatant criticism meted to our Leader.”
