Dr Tamsir Mbowe said ‘that is not true’ Wednesday afternoon when told HIV/AIDS patients died during former President Yahya Jammeh’s HIV/AIDS cure.
Dr Mbowe was the former president’s right-hand man in the programme that ran for ten years. He was the director general of the programme.
Continuing speaking to the TRRC, Dr Mbowe rejected claims patients died while undergoing the treatment.
He said: “That is not true, that is not true. I was the clinical doctor and any person who should die in that treatment must have a death certificate and I am the guy who must sign it.
“I have never signed any death certificate for this in that treatment. Four or five died at the sanatorium. They were having TB and one Saudi citizen died because of some cardiac problems.”
