PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
The executive and organising committee of Genieri Development Association (GDA-UK) are pleased to cordially invite the general public, particularly the Gambian community in the UK to their fundraising event. The purpose is to raise funds to supplement resources being raised by citizens, well-wishers, and friends of Genieri in the Gambia, and the Diasporas, to support the village water project.
This project is a locally identified priority initiative, to provide more reliable and sustainable safe drinking water supply for the village community. It is envisaged that, this project will enhance opportunities for the people of Genieri, women in particular, for embarking on livelihood cum income generating ventures, including horticulture.
Also, it is anticipated that the project when completed will contribute immensely in reducing the potential prevalence of water borne diseases e.g. typhoid and diarrhoea etc in the village, which usually affects the most vulnerable groups, children, and women.
