Senegal: Islamic teacher bags five years in prison after student he beat died

An Islamic teacher in Louga, Senegal Abdou Latif Cissé has been sentenced to five years in prison after one of his students died after he beat him, according to Senego.

Senego reported on Tuesday Cisse had beaten 15-year-old Habiboulaye Camara and the student later died. He has been sentenced to five years in prison and will also pay 10 million CFA in damages.

During his trial, the teacher denied some of the charges but admitted lashing the deceased four times on February 16, 2020 after he failed to memorise his lesson of the day.
