The Gambia government will spend 22.1 billion dalasis this year, a staggering 33.3 percent increase from the previous year.
The Gambia government in 2019 spent a total of 15.1 billion dalasis approximately 292 million dollars. By the time it’s December 21, 2020, the government’s total expenditure this year would have hit 22.1 billion dalasis approximately 427 million dollars.
According to the finance minister, all expenditure sub-components have increased significantly during the course of the year.
“Much of it is due to additional expenditure on goods and services and capital development intended to combat the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic,” the finance minister told lawmakers in Banjul on Thursday.
