The Police have arrested one Sheikh Hydara, for his alleged involvement in the death of one Miss Vanisah.
Family members speaking to The Fatu Network from HLM in Dakar have disclosed that Vanisah a 26 year old woman was born in Abijan to a Senegalese mother. Her mum Niania Faal is said to have been informed about the death of her only child few hours ago. She is currently making arrangements to travel to Banjul from Abijan.
Vanisah’s aunt, Fatou Faal said the family is saddened about what happened. “The saddest part is that we still do not have any credible information on what exactly happened to our loved one”. Fatou said. She added that Vanisah moved to The Gambia with her friends who are currently living there.
In an interview with The Fatu Network, ASP Foday Conta, deputy Police public relation officer said Saturday, November 26, 2017 at about 07:00hrs a body of an adult lady was found dumped along the streets of Manjai Kunda.
“The matter was reported to the Police in the Kanifing Region and a team of police investigators were dispatched to the area.”
ASP Conta added that after the necessary procedures, the investigators drove the body to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul. Investigations continued and some people were arrested in connection with the matter which includes one Mr. Sheikh Hydara he said.
During the process of the investigations, he added that it was revealed that on Saturday night November 25 2017, Miss Vanisah went to Lynnes Lodge in Manjai Kunda with a man who was identified as Sheikh Hydara a 34 year old man from Tallinding.
“ During the interrogations, Mr. Hydara explained that as he was with Miss Vanisah having drink at a local bar, they decided to go into a lodge where he paid for a room.”
PRO Conta: ”The accused stated that Miss Vanisah decided to take a shower whilst he was waiting and after a while, he (Sheikh) noticed that Vanisah fell in the bathroom and blood was oozing from her nose.”
During the early hours of Sunday morning, the accused decided to get her in his car with the help of some people in the lodge PRO Conta noted.
Police PRO added that after a thorough investigation it was suspected that there could be foul play surrounding Miss. Vanisah’s untimely demise.
In the mean time, he added that the body of the late Vanisah is at the mortuary at the EFSTH for a medical examination to further help in the investigation.
The suspect Sheikh Hydara is under police custody helping the police with their investigations.
