Juka Ceesay Saturday brought the case of two Gambian-Americans killed in The Gambia into fresh media spotlight when she broke down on air.
This was during the latest episode of The Sisters Show which the Ceesay sisters started to inspire women, especially people of African descent.
Alhagie Mamut Ceesay, brother to the sisters was a Gambian-American who lived in Texas.
Ceesay and his friend, Ebou Jobe returned to Gambia in May 2013 , but wound up getting kidnapped and killed.
While listening to a soulful song by The Melisizwe brothers which says meanings abound in every situation in life, Juka suddenly burst into tears, while making spirited efforts to avoid the camera.
In the saddest moment yet since the show started, her sister Olay Ceesay who seemed stunned enquired with a tingle of concern asking ‘Juka why are you crying? What’s making you cry?’
A grief stricken Juka clarified: “I was crying for what you guys said at the end. There are meanings in the things that are broken. When my brother was taken away from us. There has been meaning since then. I’m sorry I can’t talk. Yeah, anyways I don’t wanna cry. I don’t wanna cry. I don’t wanna cry. I just wanna say thank you guys so much. You guys inspire a lot of people. Thank you for what you do and please continue to do what you do.”
Juka has said at the launching of the show that the experience of shared loss over a period of five years brought them closer together as a family, while strengthening their resolve to give back to the world.
The Melisizwe brothers emerged winners of 2019 America’s Most Musical Family. They triumphed over 30 other family bands across North America before a panel presided over by three celebrity judges: singer Ciara, digital media big wig David Dobrik, pop icon and Broadway star Debbie Gibson, as well as show host, singer and television personality Nick Lachey.
The Sisters Show airs every Saturday at 8:00PM GMT, 4:00PM EST.
