Top Islamic leader Imam Baba Leigh has said God commanded that every human being should be given the rights he deserves as he shot back at critics calling for him to resign from the National Human Rights Commission over its recommendation for gays to be protected.
“Human rights is far beyond, far more than what they call same-sex marriage, what they call gay. Our human rights is far beyond that but they forgot or they don’t know the Almighty Allah said in the Holy Quran, ‘give the right to each and every one the right he deserves to be given’,” Imam Leigh said on Thursdayn at a news conference.
The imam added: “Being an idol worshipper, being a gay, being whatever he is, he is a human being. He have [sic] what he deserve[s]. Whatever crime he commit[s], he should be treated as a human being.
“Even if the criminal kills somebody, he should be arrested, due process must be observed and he must be treated as a human being.
“So that being the case, I became the biggest victimof National Human Rights Commission, because of my name, because of my faith and am not the only Muslim that work for National Human Rights Commission in different countries all over the world.”
