At least five boys have died after fire broke out at Masjid Bilal Boarding School in Yundum on Saturday.
The boys died after getting trapped in their rooms in the school, multiple people told The Fatu Network.
The chief executive officer of the school Imam Essa Jawara told The Fatu Network the boys said a man started the fire.
“They are aged 16, 14, 10 and 8. I asked the parents to be patient. This is God’s will,” Imam Essa Jawara said.
‘I can’t be happy,” the Imam added as he broke down in tears.
According to the Imam, there was a fire outbreak in the school last year too when one of the boys at the school started a fire.
Some of the boys managed to escape through the window of the room during Saturday’s fire.
