By Omar Wally: A 15 year boy from Essau village, North Bank Region, has allegedly killed his 22 year old cousin.
In an interview with The Fatu Network, ASP Foday Conta, deputy police spokesman of The Gambia Police Force said the incident happened on November 24, 2017.
PRO Conta said Modou Lamin Basseh, father of the accused has a gun and whenever he returns from business trips he usually asks his 15 year old son to pack the gun.
“I want to point out that Lamin has a gun because he goes out for business and returns late in the evening and he sometimes encounter wild animals like wolves on his way.”
Whenever Basseh returns from the business trips PRO added he would offload his gun and ask his son to go pack it. “ But on this day he forgot to offload the raffle which was loaded with a barrel of cartridge.”
PRO Conta: When the son was on his way to pack the gun, he pulled the trigger on his cousin,Yahya Jaiteh who sitting right there causing his death.
The matter was transfer to the major crime unit of The Police Headquarters in Banjul PRO Conta said.
“The remains of the deceased is currently at the mortuary and the matter is under investigation.”
PRO disclosed that investigations revealed that the gun has not been licensed for 2017.
