University Of The Gambia Gets New Vice Chancellor

Sources have confirmed to The Fatu Newtwork that The University of The Gambia, UTG has named Prof. Dr. Faqir  Muhammad Anjum as its new vice chancellor. According to google search, Prof. Anjum a Pakistani national holds two Ph.D. degrees in Food Technology (UAF) and Grain Science (KSU, USA), and Post-doctorate from Reading University, UK. He is a Fellow of IFST, UK and member of several national/international associations/societies. He is recipient of Farmguide Hamdard Award and Research Productivity Allowances. He participated in many conferences/workshops. He is said to be a Meritorious Professor and founder Director General of NIFSAT. He was decorated with civil award “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz”. He has produced 27 Ph.D. and 83 M.Sc. students in addition to 157 research publications in national and international reputed journals.

Dr. Anjum is expected to conduct a familiarization tour of different schools and faculties within the university on Thursday, October, 6, 2016. According to sources, he told students that his vision is to establish the University of The Gambia as a model for the African Universities, measured not by who the university excludes, but rather who it includes. “Transforming the University as one of the premier institutions in Africa through the concept of excellence in teaching, research and services in which students, faculty, and administration drive the quality of educational opportunities towards being the best of the best.” he concluded.
