Mambury Njie says 4.7 million dalasis was what was spent on President Barrow’s November tour

President Adama Barrow’s November last year tour of the nation devoured 4.7 million dalasis, finance minister Mambury Njie revealed on Wednesday.

Fielding questions from NAMs at the national assembly, Mr Njie said: “I wish to inform the Honourable Member from Kiang Central that a total of 4,791,105 was spent on the last presidential tour.”

President Barrow toured the nation in November of last year, a tour which spanned 19 days with at least 44 meetings held by the Gambian leader.

Central Baddibou MP Sulayman Saho who appeared bothered by the sum asked if the finance minister had any plan to ensure spending on such activity is cut in light of the crises the country is going through.

A frank Mambury Njie said: “Honourable member, I have no plans. It’s a constitutional requirement and mandate for the president to go on tour. I have no plans.”
