Madi Jobarteh on Wednesday wondered why the nation remained without a police chief following the sudden death of Mamour Jobe.

Jobe died on March 13.

Commentator Madi Jobarteh wrote on Wednesday: “It’s 12 days since the former IGP passed away yet there is still no one appointed or acting in that position?

“What is the President waiting for to appoint an IGP? Some positions are not meant to be left empty at any time. When will the President appoint an IG?”

The Gambia Police Force remains without a leader since Jobe’s death – and a statement on Tuesday over the Sanyang riot is said to have come from the police ‘high command’ instead of the traditional ‘Office of the IGP’ approach.
