Barrow says his journey to Mankamang Kunda lasted nearly 7 hours but some are blasting the president over his comments

President Adama Barrow on Thursday got blasted by some Gambians after he claimed his journey to Mankamang Kunda, his home village lasted nearly seven hours ‘because people came out in numbers despite the hot sun’.

“We spent almost seven hours to get to my home village, not because the road was bad but because people came out in numbers despite the hot sun, to welcome me along the way and to wish me a safe journey,” President Barrow said on his official Barrow PORG Facebook page.

Some Gambians were left unimpressed as they slammed the president over his comments.

Jai Sajar Camara said on the president’s wall: “Your insensitivity towards your people’s plight cant seized to amazed me.

“You went to URR to visit the victims of the inferno who lost their entire life savings and source of livelihood you are busy entertaining yourself?? Wow.”

Lamin Cham commented: “If you like spend million years on the way who cares please do not come back to banjul please stay there.”

US-based Pata PJ said: “This is childish and unbelievable. Crazy stuff.”

Others are however praising the president as he arrives in Mankamang ahead of a 10-trip to URR.

Alieu Bah said: “It’s the tip of the iceberg. Development oriented Gambians adores you. Happy visit Your Excellency Sir.”

Musa Cham commented: “You are the president of the country and you are down to earth we proud of you congrats.”
