Bakary Papa Gassama Nominated for CAF Referee Of The Year Award

The three times best referee award winner Bakary Papa Gassama was today November 27, 2017, nominated for the Best African Referee by The Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards is a yearly ritual instituted to honor footballers and personalities who have excelled in various departments of the game as well as making meaningful contributions to its development in the continent.

The awards which dates back to 1970 when the best African Footballer of the Year was recognized, has expanded to other categories with the inclusion of women footballers for their enormous contribution to the game.

The Gambian referee who also doubles as the current CAF Best Referee is nominated alongside Bamlak Tessema (Ethiopia), Ghead Grisha (Egypt), Janny Sikazwe (Zambia), Malang Diedhiou (Senegal) and Mehdi Abid Charef (Algeria)

This CAF Awards is Increasingly enjoying great popularity beyond the shores of Africa. The awards are bestowed on individuals on pure merit for their exemplary contribution towards the development and promotion of football, on and off the pitch, within and outside the continent.
